How is Twinity doing?

Twinity has been around for a while now; I joined the beta in early 2008. What are your thoughts on it? What do you like about it? What keeps you there? Or, what should be improved to get you into Twinity (again)?

To kick off: on my laptop, Twinity performance isn't stellar. Waiting for menus to complete, for the city to materialise around me is sometimes frustrating. But what I like is the mix between reality and virtuality, the fact that you can check out real world spots from behind your computer. Can't wait until they do Singapore!

Yeah, Singapore is with us, and performance is still a major issue. Big upgrade today, we are told. I have access to two mighty computers with superior specs, yet moving around is problematic. The engine is taking more MB and more b/w on line... We'll see. What is now clear to me is that this is not a beta, it's a public alpha test. The basics are still not working.

The beta's doing much better technically than a year ago; however, in many ways it took a step back in '09. Metaversum made many shocking creative decisions that regressed Twinity IMO (like removing the Tutorial Center!!); Singapore has turned out to be a bit of a dud; a lot of other questionable moves were made that diminished the metaverse somewhat. However, I think that Metaversum's learning from its mistakes and is going to make Twinity much better this year. I learned that it's bringing the Tutorial Center back, which is a huge step in the right direction.
