The NeoVictoria Project

This contest is about capturing the spirit of the NeoVictoria estate for a calendar. The only criteria are:

1. Image is related to our roleplay story in some way, its fine to use avatar characters and props or to only shoot landscapes. Please read the Steampunk Travelogue on NeoVictoria if you're unfamiliar with the Neo'verse: http://www.steampunktribune.com/2011/10/steampunk-travelogue-neo-victoira.html.

2. It’s fine to use photo-enhancing software like Photoshop or GIMP, but don't add any words or borders to the photo.

3. The shot must be captured on the Machinima SIM or the NeoVictoria SIM.

To take part in the competition you need to:

* Visit the NeoVictoria estate between 5 December and 31 December to take your photos; here’s the SLUrl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Machinima/16/128/704.

* Join the "The NeoVictoria Project" group on Koinup (http://www.koinup.com/group/neovictoria) - that's this group on this website. Koinup is a free social network based on user-generated content, with a focus on virtual worlds.

* Add your images to our Kionup pool, limit of two per avatar.  Here's the direct link: http://www.koinup.com/group/neovictoria/works/add/

* Include the following:
1) Your Second Life avatar name.
2) The SIM name where the photo was taken (NeoVictoria or Machinima).
2) The month of the year you think suits the photo best, for example: “Asil Ares presents the Cathedral bell tower in NeoVictoria SIM for January”.

* Depending on the volume of pictures received, the first round of judging will be by the NeoVictoria community via the Internet.

* We’ll present the top 15 images in-world for a final vote to determine the twelve winners. The in-world vote will be open to all Second Life avatars. In-world voting will be from 11 January through 18 January.

* Winners will be announced on 20 January at a special party in the NeoLondon SkyClub, time TBA.

The Prizes:

~ 1st Place - $5000 Linden dollars™
~ 2nd Place - $3000 Linden dollars™
~ 3rd Place - $2000 Linden dollars™
~ 4rd Place - $1000 Linden dollars™
~ 5th Place through 12thPlace – $250 Linden dollars™ each

In addition to the prize money, winners will be featured on the NeoVictoria website (http://www.neovictoria.net) and in the calendar.

IMPORTANT: While the NeoVictoria estate is identified as an adult SIM to comply with Linden Lab's ToS, please note that any unseemly images will be removed from the contest without warning as deemed appropriate by the judges or the Kionup admins.

I would recogmend : Make sure you turn your graphics setting right up to Ultra in the Preferences pannel!! For just as long as it takes you to capture the screen shot! And maybe cose down all other applications but your SL viewer while you are doing this to free up RAM. See you inworld ,)

1-Jan-2012: Asil has closed this group to new submissions for the next two weeks as we begin the judging portion of the contest. The first pass will occur online and will be done by the members of the NeoVictoria website. The top 15 images will then be rezzed in-world in the skymall in Machinima for a popular in-world vote!

Real-life has kept me away from the computer, so we're running a week behind on the voting.  The online ballot is being distributed to the members of the NeoVictoria website today (3 January).
The in-world vote for the top fifteen pics will be open to all Second Life avatars. In-world voting will be from 11 January through 18 January in the skymall in Machinima SIM. 
The winners of the popular in-world vote will be announced on 20 January at a special party in the NeoLondon SkyClub, time TBA.

The votes have been counted and we have the fifteen photos that have made it to an in-world popular vote.  I want to thank all of the people who participated, the work submitted was really excellent.  Thanks for making Neo look so very (very) good!

PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The votes have been counted and now its time to toast the winners of the photo contest. Join us Friday at 6 PM, SL-time to celebrate. Live DJ spinning tunes ... Asil showering the winners with Lindens and love ...AND, there will be a very special gift for everyone who attends!
