I take a lot of care in sights...The Sims doesn't allow to control the avatar eyes, so you have to catch that second, only that right second when the avatar has the expression you want! Sometimes it's hard, but so funny *__*

The impossible dream in machinima! Finding that split second in an animation - lighting - camera angle. Do we have a group here for those indispensable members of our community - the people who make our animations?
Nitwacket | 4 year(s) ago
hey Nit, feel free to create a group for the best animations that make our virtual lives something really great...
Uhm....is quite simple...The sims doesn't allow to work a lot on face expresssion so you need to be lucky with the animation/pose. I admit, I prefer to work on photoshop to change my avatar expression.... But I think the pose, the clothes....A nice sky or some candles to make a good atmosphre, can say a lot about the person behind my avatar...

I'm using the decorgal posing box to create expressions on my sims' face. You can combine expressions with this box to smooth it, and give them a most real result... But I'm always working on photoshop to smooth the expression or change the way of the look... Expressions in sims are so caricaturals.

I agree with Link and Magggg, Photoshop is fundamental for The Sims expressions ><
I agree with you too...fundamental...! sims and Imvu too..!! ehehe! Kiss to all of you!

I play both Sims and Wow and in this period I could analyse how much they are different, talking about game art... Yes, Sims' expressions are often caricatural, but if you catch the moment, they can be also very realistic and human... talking about avatar in Wow is much more difficult, instead... and create photos different from landscapes is quite impossible sometimes!!! 'cause Wow characters have quite always a static expression and only randomly they change it... you must be quick to fix that expression and link it to a particular situation, in order to give it a meaning and create an emotion :)

I didn't know that Morgana, thanks for sharing!
Hello.. first post to group.. Thankyou for the invite Pier. I use IMVU.. the avatars don't come with much, the expressions at first are controlled by a few triggers. But because I love doing avi art, I bought poses from dev's on the site, that allow all sorts of poses and expressions to go with it... The IMVU avatar can get some pretty crazy emotions out.

thanks Mystic!!!
I use IMVU as well, They have a few moods but I do buy poses with expressions or avatars. So its not to hard to find the right expression you need, its just a little expensive when you get addicted to it ;) The hardest thing I find is making your character look where you want, so I mostly bring some one to talk to me, place it on a standing spot, and move the standing spot around,so my avatar`s eyes will follow him/her until I get the right look ..;)

There are many ways you can add emotion or feeling to an image. Choice of color, pose, and fashion can allow the viewer to 'feel' the emotion in the image. Finding the correct angle for the shot play a major role as well. I have never relied on stock poses for my over all work. I use multiple screenshots to create one complete imagein Photoshop.

Avatars emotions can be simply attached by a true HUD it is told. But my avie is not always same representation to the one behind manipulating his gestures: I use my avatar as a mirror image of main intention, lately I produce a sort of invisible media between me an my avie so that I can see it clearer from a different position... In the end, my Avatar is what I call the quintessence of what I would be in another life, and is (almost) impossible to be in this world.

I agree with Mystic and if you do it just right and are fast enough with the PrntScrn you can get some funny stuff too hehe otherwise it is just the basics with smiles LOL and winks but the avi can come alive in photoshop
