It opens Thursday, September 22, 2011, at 22.00, in  Piazza Plebiscito Napoli in Second Life, and Friday, September 23, 2011, at the Museum of Metaverse in OpenSim Craft, the first of twenty-two exhibitions of the project Art & Poetry.

22-poems, 22 weeks, 22 sites, 22 exhibitions, 132 works.

1 permanent exhibition dedicated to the poet Carmen Auletta (aka Margy Ryba) and its "painted poems".

The event is the continuation of the activities of Museo del Metaverso, in the already marked direction, in the belief that virtual worlds are spaces, albeit with a strong emotional component, however, suitable for construction of complex cultural events”

The initiative will be immersed in an international dimension,the cross-media and mixed reality, with the activation of a network that, through the social networks, virtual worlds and physical locations, will seek partnerships and collaborations with various subjects, internet players  and the world of culture and art in general. 

The first link  with a place of art will take place in the second week of exhibitions, specifically from September 29 to October 2, 2011, a period in which a live streaming will be enabled with Cannes, the Croisette, where from 27 June is in progress a personal exhibition of Patrick Moya. In the same day will be a link with Bogota, Colombia, for the presentation of performance by Pyewacket Kazianenko, Kai Steamer and Jo Ellsmere.
The initiative aims to focus attention on the art, through poetry, by linking new media art, born and developed in virtual worlds and the Neapolitan dialect poetry, born from the rich vein of contemporary poet Carmen Auletta. Two art forms that arise "from below" who meet in this project, communicating with each other.
Poetry and art have value in itself, it will be interesting to see the meeting of the two kinds and the story that will emerge, will not be relevant different interpretations of Carmen's poems by the artists, will be important only the poems and the works on display and suggestions that they evoke.

The aim of the project is to let the two kinds talk and watch the story that poetry and art, in this case poetry in Neapolitan language and new media art, will do.

ON THE ROCK
(Poem read at ONU in New York)
How strange is this melancholy,
the heart, imprisoned into a rock,
tries to get rid of this sickness,
but has no strength, it's uncomforted

The wave dashes on this rock,
it comes and fades in as the thoughts do,
this white foam wets my soul,
talks to me as a counselor does

And with me is this voice of the sea
that calmed me little by little,
making me leave behind all the bitterness
that was preserved into my heart.

'A FANTASIA PITTATA
Nun saccio si è cumparzo pe maggìa,
si nzuonno quacche vvota ce so' stato,
o si tenenno mente a na fotocrafìa,
cert'è stu pizzo 'un l'aggio cchiù scurdato.

Nce stanno lloco, oi né, na casarella,
quase azzeccata a na chiesella rosa
c' 'o mare annanze addó na varchetella,
menata 'ncopp'â rena, s'arreposa.

Po' na matina, quanno me scetaje,
stunata ancora 'e chesta fantasìa,
nu fatto strano, sié, me capitaje,
venette a sti pennielle 'a frennesìa.

'A tavulozza 'mmano se mettette,
sciglienno quase 'a sola ogne culore,
e nun te saccio dì chi me mpunette
'e fà 'ntrasatta ll'arte d' 'o pittore.

'A tela steva tèseca e felice,
tutta pittata mo' ch'era vestuta,
ma po', vulette pure na curnice
comme cullana all'opera fernuta.

THE PAINTED FANTASY
I don't know if it appeared by magic,
if I have been there in a dream,
or if i have in mind a photograph--
but I have never forgotten it since.

It is a strange place, a little house
Almost hidden by a church in rose.
There is a sea where a little boat
is at rest, its oars slack, in repose.

Then one morning, when I awoke,
This image remained in my mind,
Strange to say, but it happened just so--
My brushes have a will of their own.

I sit down at the easel,
the colors select themselves,
and I know not by what guide
the painter's art appears.

The canvas is happy and dry,
All prettied and dressed to go.
All it needs is a frame--
Like a necklace to adorn its fame.

Nu viaggio immaginario int’ a sta nava
p’alleggerì nu poco ‘a capa mia,
addò se viaggia tanto e nun se pava,
me faccio pe’ sta sola e ‘ncumpagnia.

Ah…come vola chesta cerevella,
nun sape ch’ ato chiù s’ha dda ‘nventà,
se fa nu viaggio int’ a na nava bella,
e a stu timone se vo’ fa guidà.

Non saccio ancora addò me purtarraje

THE BOAT
For a fantasy voyage I step on board
To take a load off my mind
Where I sail is of no import--
I go to be alone and in kind.

Ah, how my mind flails,
It doesn't know whence it came!
But if it embarks on pretty sails,
its fears slowly begin to wane.

I don't yet know where I shall land
but truly hope that while I sail
I shall see things to make me glad
since life on shore is much travail

I pass my gaze over the wet sand

Carrying things that burrow holes

A' MANA SCELLERATA
Comme nu quadro è stata ‘a vita mia,

E tutte ‘e juorne io stevo a me ‘ncantà,
che ‘a pennellata era sempe chiù fina,

accumincianno già a primma matina.

“Ma comm’è bello” me diceva ‘a gente,

Like a picture, my life has been
painted in the best of colors

have been imprinted with a brush.

And I was bewitched, every day

Yet stunned by this passionate love,

A breeze carries the smell of the sea,

CHILDREN OF NAPLES
Children who have lost their innocence,
they meet in their thousand in the city,

E ancora chiove , chiove tutte ‘e juorne,

stu cielo è niro e pure ll’aria manca.

Nun me rassegno ca tu chiù nun tuorne

e tengo nu dulore ca me sfianca.



Vulesse mò na cosa sulamente,

nu squillo 'e campaniello fora ‘a porta,

me serve p’allevià chistu mumento,

ch'è nu supplizio ca nun se supporta.



Tutt’è pparole ca nun t’aggio ditto

l’aggio astipate cu nu catenaccio,

e nu tesoro ncoppa ‘a mappa scritto

tenevo dint’ ‘o core sotto ‘o ghiaccio.



E mò che me ne faccio ' e stu tesoro,

si po' ll’ammore mio nun l’ha saputo.

The Neapolitan poems of Carmen Auletta are the starting point for an exciting new project combining poetry and art.
Carmen (Margye Riba in SL) is an award-winning poet from Naples, whose work has received international recognition as well as being used in school textbooks. The culture and language of the city of Naples is well-known for its rich range of humor, emotions, and passion. Perhaps the most famous figure is Eduardo de Filippo http://www.enotes.com/twentieth-century-criticism/filippo-eduardo-de He was one of the most important figures of the Italian stage in the 20th century. Like de Filippo, Carmen's themes are those of the common man or woman, those universal sentiments that affect us all, wherever we are from.

The Art&Poetry Project is divided into two parts:
1. An exhibition of Carmen's poems and associated works
2. A related show, involving dynamic artwork inspired by Carmens poems and that will be traveling to various venues across the grid.


Information regarding the traveling show
• Fifteen of Carmen's poems have been chosen and will be published in both Neapolitan and English on the MdM website.
• Sixty artists working in a wide variety of media, includding architecture, design, photography, machinima, performance artists and so forth, will be invited to create a piece of art based on the poems.
• The type of artwork, deadlines and logistics of the show will be subject to a set of clearly defined guidelines.
• Those wishing to participate should send a short bio together with two photos of their work, or a link to their website, to museodelmetaverso@gmail.com no later than August 31, 2011.
• All participants are invited to join the Museo del Metaverso in Facebook etc, where they will be able to to follow the progress of the project via a group and a dedicated blog.
• The two shows will be opening both in OpenSim Craft, on sim Museo del Metaverso, and in Second Life, on sim Pyramid. The traveling show will be relocated in a different region each week. We will be looking for sim owners who have experience in hosting artistic events.
• Each week, four artists will show their pieces inspired by Carmen Auletta's poems, available in Italian 9and soon in English) under the tab “Art and Poetry” http://www.museodelmetaverso.it/page/poesie-1 of the MdM website. The art will be on show from Thursday to Sunday, beginning on September 21 2011, both in OpenSim Craft at the Museo del Metaverso, and in the various host regions in SL. This means that the participants will have 4 days = 1 for setting up. All art will be removed on the last evening of the exhibitio, or at the latest by Monday, to make room for the next set of artworks.
• Each week, selected poems will be shared in Voice, and we hope that many Neapolitan residents will take the opportunity to share their rich accent and dialect with the audience, by reading one of carmen's poems out loud.
