pub. on Jul 16, 2008 Second LifeScreenshots - Photos - Pictures Gion Sim II

The umbrella I got for free at the sim. The outfit is called Jūnihitoe (you can learn more about the fascinating history about this outfit in en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J%C5%ABnihitoe) but let me share two interesting details about it. In RL it is a 12-layers robe made of silk that weights up to 40 pounds and for that reason, it was not recommended for swimming :-). However, there is a legend that tells the story of a lady who dared to jump into a river wearing this and she and the brave young man who tried to save her, died due to the heaviness of the outfit. Mimify Loon designed this outfit for a Kyoto project in SL that celebrated the 1000 years of the creation of the world oldest full-length Japanese novel "The Tale of Genji", a couple of months ago. I loved the story and learning about this and since I admire Mimify's work I decided to use it for the Gion Portrait contest. The outfit is also available for free in SL. If you want the LM let me know and I will share it.
