Hi friends, I would just like to draw your attention to a very talented Koinup member, CynU. I saw her work on flickr and only just recently realised she is here as well. Not only is she a fantastic artist  (see koinup.com/CynUltsch/works/ ) but she also makes wonderful poses, her store is at http://slurl.com/secondlife/Golden%20Las%20Vegas/126/116/23 (and no I am not on commission...damnit... hahaha). A truly multitalnted lady. Anyway the reason that I am posting this blog is that apart from her last piece which blew me away koinup.com/CynUltsch/work/66649/ I am not sure that her work has been seen by as many people as it should be seen by. (if that makes sense?) lol And also everyone knows by now I am a gobby cow and like to get on my soap box from time to time hehe.

Thanks chums xx

Well, the Windmill Project is going along nicely we're up to three pages of windmill pictures. Thanks to everyone for participating and let's hope the pile continues to grow.

And now I'd like to suggest a new in-wold pileup: The Second Night Project.

I've noticed I tend to take a lot of pictures at night, and night is one of my favourite times. So I'd like to see us gather together all the best night time pictures in one place: Moonlight and stars, dark urban streets, creepy graveyards, back country roads awash in tints of blue and grey...

If you'd like to participate, please add the tag: secondnightproject  to your appropriate works.

Just for fun.

The Windmill Project

I've noticed that Second Life has a lot of nice windmills. And since I like windmills, I've started shooting them (well THAT doesn't sound nice!). Anyway, I'd like to suggest that the rest of us do so too: A sort of non-pileup pileup. When you take a nice shot of a windmill, please attach the tag "Windmill Project." Just for fun. :-)

Please also remember that the review tag is for work that you would like critiqued, opinions of how to improve, suggested techniques etc etc.

Thanks

Hello my friends. I'd like to draw your attention to a great place which can be seen in this photo koinup.com/Trixibelle/work/61172/. Full details are there but basically it is a gallery and photographic educational centre and more created by the hugely talented Kali Meads who is too damn modest to give herself a plug. As I am a gobby cow and think she is a cause worth shouting about I want as many people as possible to see it *grins. Please go visit and take a good look around, there is lots to see. xxxx

Thank you all xxxx

Greetings from the South of France (I am so dead meat if I am found at the PC lol but I couldn't resist). I hope you are all being good (although I can see from MightyP's photos that she and Angel aren't for sure *grins* - and I can clearly see that Mr Asbrink has enjoyed them a little too much hehehe). I'm missing you all loads and looking forward to going on Koinup Safari when I get back ;-)))))) The car broke so I'm here a bit longer than anticipated but I'll be back, annoying the hell out of you all again before you know it.

Take care my chums. Kisses xxxx

Hi!

Briefly:
You are invited to attend the first second life exhibition for don hosho.. showing his digital painting portraits!

Time:
Friday 15th Aug 2008 | 2:00 p.m. SLT.

Details:
A noob was standing in a life concert at the cafe, back in October, 2006. And while he was caming .. he liked some scene, and no one has imagined this noob is a real life illustrator. No one imagined too that his real life is full of drawing sketches in place.. and paint them later.

As any life painter, he was refusing to paint out of nature.. even when he had clients in real life asking him to paint them, he never accepted photos ... but at that day.. he felt he has to paint what he sees..
Yes, it is a virtual world, not a real world, but .. there is something natural behind all these pixlated masks, and dolls..

A crazy idea came to my mind, the concept of the pixlated painter that paints pixlated subjects and people, by his real life hand using pixlated mediums.. and to be the first classic painter in second life .. as my first digital painting is dated back to 30 oct. 2006! and it is in the exhibition .. and it was for a beatiful lady standing in the cafe, listening to the life music there..

Digital painting is an emerging art form in which traditional painting techniques such as watercolor, oils, impasto, etc. are applied using digital tools by means of a computer, a digitizing tablet and stylus, and software. Traditional painting is painting with a physical medium as opposed to a more modern style like digital.
More: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_painting

I have lived the life of Edgar Degas for about 2 years, painting portraits and making money through painting portraits.. a life i wished to live.. I called it " SL painting " and I decided these days to make an exhibition of paintings I have commissioned or sold in world.. to share my second life experience with other second life users.

Thank you,
Don Hosho

Hi, there's alot going on at the moment with the pileups and other projects and its all extremely valuable work BUT....I really urge mentors to keep checking the works for review. And when you check them please do review them...give a critique if you can....that's the reason they have put them there, the submitters are asking for advice. (yes i know nag nag nag ;-))))

Many thanks chums xxxx

Hi folks, please could you make sure that you put in the steps & techniques you have used on the originals on reworked pileup pieces so that there is an educational aspect that all can benefit from.

Many thanks ;-))))

Hello chums. I just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of you that have embraced the mentors project, both to mentors and those submitting work for review. There have been some really excellent critiques and tutorials. I am going to be away for roughly a month (with a short spell back in the middle) so please mentors...keep up the great work you have done so far and review works on koinup.com/works/tag/review/

On another point...thanks to Pan and Pier for the initiative of comparing photos taken at the same sim. It would be great to narrow this down and maybe look at something specific on the sim and comparing shots on it...such as happened with the Beguile shots koinup.com/works/tag/beguile/

Another great suggestion from Ji, is to take a raw untouched image and then invite people to use it and do post prod work on it. Each person would then explain what they have done to get to their final image. This process is known as "Pile Up" so if you would like to do this...please upload a work and add the tag "pileup" to it. Then add a tag of your choice that each person doing work on it will add to their new work so that the string of photos can be identified. Then of course don't forget to add the tag "tutorial".

This is all very exciting and I can't wait to see the results on my return. Good luck my chums xxx
