Akikaze ya!
Akikaze ya! Are mo mukashi no Bishonen Ah the autumn wind! He and that likely lad Of long, long ago! Haiku by Kobayashi Issa ================= How fitting, this haiku, this theme. Autumn has been one of my favorite seasons because of its flashing, unabashed colors. However, it is also the season of goodbyes, of birds flying southwards, of lives departing. The juxtaposition of beauty and dying fascinate me. So, Gion is closing its doors at the threshold of winter, but images of Gion will remain in my head with the red and gold leaves. ================= This is my second picture of the lyrical picture series. A lyrical picture visualizes a poem, or a story. The first such picture was made with the words of Shelley's farewell echoing in my head. The picture enriches the experience of reading the poem and vice versa. Both the act of creating and watching / reading become much more satisfying through this coupling.
