Standing in the doorway, she notices him as he steps out of the hotel into the center of the village.
A quaint peaceful marketplace.
Watching dogs sleeping in the afternoon sunlight, splashing water from the fountain chasing the stray cats away.
The scent of cigar smoke lingers in the air, mildew stucco falling off the walls, grass is growing out of roof drains.
As he notices this interesting woman bringing her zest for life to this town.

The scent of her perfume wafts through the air, growing his desire to make her acquaintance.
He slowly approaches her.
Engaging her in conversation, he asks her name and what brought her to this peaceful place.
Quietly awaiting her answer, he gazes at the setting sun.
She sighs deeply, turning her head away and wiping the tear from her cheek.
With sorrow in her voice, she responds: "I'm here for a very sad occasion, my grand-father recently passed away and I am attending his funeral."
She starts telling him the story of her life. Highlighting her family's great history in the region.
He quickly learns, that she is the heiress to the oldest cigar factory in Cuba.
Intently he listens to her monologue, picturing her vivid descriptions of her past.
In a hurry she gets up and rushes back to the hotel.
Calling behind her "I have to change"
and she disappears....
After a few minutes, she reappears refreshed but somber.
"Wait for me, I'll be back shortly"
With the chicken clucking in the background, he patiently waits at the hotel for her return eager to learn more about this most intriguing woman.
