Wind Up Doll
This is a poem I wrote a few years ago and dug up a few days ago.
I was inspired to make a video about it. The video is about a girl who has forgotten about a doll she owns, which used to be her favorite toy. The doll follows her around the bedroom reminiscing of her past with the little girl.
Wind me up,bring me down. Watch me spin, make me fall. A figurine, a marionette. I am that of a wind up doll.
Twist my key, make me move. I'm that play thing, on your wall. I am yours, you decide. I am that of a wind up doll.
Toss me aside, lose appeal. Throw me down, watch me crawl. You neglect me, you'll forget me. I am that of a wind up doll.
You can't hurt me, I don't feel. Free to dismiss me like a ball. Only a replica of what is real. I am that of a wind up doll.
The video and poem are both metaphorical.
