Broken Heart

Night was falling like every evening before... Standing on her balcony she watched the sunset over the ocean, so beautiful and overwhelming - as if nothing had happened...
She left the house, her steps leading to the small Cafe down the brick path - and she sat down at the Table for Two, just like last night...
But it wasn`t the same, everything was different now, she was alone...
Leaning forward her eyes were watching the waves, glistening under the last powerful sunbeams, the air still warm after that sunny day - but she couldn`t feel the warmth and jumped up restless
Walking around the corner, she stopped and stared into the darkening waters of the small canal - trying to see a reflection next to hers in the gentle waves, but... no... there was only her...
She reached the peaceful marketplace and found it lovely and inviting as every day before, she always loved the warm feel of that charming place, like a gentle beating heart...
She leaned against the corner, feeling the last sunlight warm on her skin for a short moment... A cat strolled around the place in the distance, catlike with no sign of any hurry or destination, looking so happy and content...
Shivering suddenly she left the place, only wishing that cold emptiness deep inside would go away - she walked through the small passage to the ocean, hearing only her own heartbeat in the shadows and golden twilight...
Then she found herself in that same room like the night before and she sat down, her back to the wall - the doors were open and she could hear the waves outside, singing their own neverending song...
Memories, so many memories ran through her mind, laughter, happiness, love, satisfaction - hours passed by and different thoughts captured her mind, not as bright and wonderful, dispair, anger, frustrated hope and broken dreams...
The loud sound of the bell from the marketplace made her raise her head and suddenly she opened her eyes wide - yes, she was alone... But...
No more waiting for hours sitting by the phone, no more shattered hopes, no more broken promises, no more lies and excuses... She took a deep breath and stood up, leaving the shadows behind her and looking outside into the promising, bright dawn of a new day
And she knew... Some day, soon, she would dance in sunlight again - as if nothing had happened.
