best viewed large. have added a canvas look to it to try and mimic a painting - hope you like :)
you have made a great job BBeau!! the subject is really interesting....and I think it deserve a visit...because you have a unique experience there..... Btw, I love the lighiting in your photo, because it make the image really similar to the original painting..... What I'm seeing hard to make with this subject is the correct framing.... Your is much better than mine..... but, at the same time it is not as vertical as the original.......

great lighting..great hair...great fake arm lol. My only comments might be about the shading of the figure itself. I'm not sure if you were trying to replicate the painting but the chest area in particular looks a bit blocky...however it may be that its caused by trying to match the painting. But it has a really good feel to it. Well done.

wow very good! and yes shading too as trix said, and this one is very important. tips: 1. try to edit ur arms to be longer so u can reach the paper ~lol ( editing for a photo and bringing the arm back is not a mistake, i have discovered that SL avatars has shorter arms than normal life ) 2.may be to use a RL arm in same perspective? instead of a sl and match them. 3. when 2 objects in ur photoshop has different lighting values, get a flatten copy and use curves ( ctrl-m ) i guess 4.try to match the perspective more ( look at the top side of the box it is appearing less than that in the original painting ). 5.why don't u match the cropping as the painting too? Louis David would teach us something from this cropping as he was using geometrical proportions in his designs. ( golden section almost ). 6.what is really considered a challenge is to get some facial expression like how Louis David has painted the original one, it is too hard i know, but it is just my thought.

Hi Trixi, ty for your comments - no intentional shading on it, that was just the way the lighting fell, but I agree it would improve with work :) donhosho - good idea with the rl arm ;) I actually wanted to leave the box look in the picture but point noted about making it more exact :) Great idea too about trying to mimic the facial expression - now there is a challenge! ty for all comments - duly noted and will take onboard to try next time *hugs
this is a great version and a lot of effort has obviously gone into it:) if you wanted to match the lighting with the original picture it probably should have come from the front left, more than from above...in particular the box is considerably darker than its original. the next time try to play with the Windlight advanced sky settings and use the sunlight and atmospheric haze sliders, as well as the sun position and east angle, to get the lighting and ambience just right:)
